WS & Co.

Kathy Cheng is President of WS & Co., a boutique-style garment manufacturer, specializing in high-quality, bespoke activewear and quick-turnaround apparel. In addition to having its own skilled sampling department which can turn concepts into production-ready garments, the company also has a custom garment manufacturing service that can produce according to clients’ specifications. Its private-label program, Redwood Classics, features in-stock apparel with classic, staple pieces ready for made-to-order branding. Redwood Classics is among the first apparel suppliers in the Canadian promotional industry to offer an entirely retail-quality Made in Canada selection. Nearly half of WS & Co’s production is exported to the USA and other global markets, including Japan. ┬áIt has produced for high-profile brands, including Roots Canada, Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC), Holt Renfrew, Todd Snyder New York, Scoop NYC, Ron Herman LA, Gilt Groupe, Preloved, Bonobos, J.Crew, Gap and Polo Ralph Lauren.

Kathy is a crusader for reshoring and keeping apparel manufacturing on North American soil.

In 2014, Kathy was one of three Canadians inducted into The EY Entrepreneurial Winning Women program, a North American competition and executive leadership program. In 2013, she won a position on the Women’s Executive Network’s list of the Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada. In 2012, she received the PPPC Inc. Momentum Award, recognizing her leadership within the promotional product industry. In 2008, she was honoured in Toronto’s Mille Femmes Exhibition (Luminato), a tribute to 1,000 artistic, creative and inspiring women from Toronto.

Kathy is a mentor and member of the Board of Directors for Toronto Fashion Incubator (TFI), which is an innovative, non-profit, small business centre dedicated to supporting and nurturing new fashion entrepreneurs. She also sits on the Program Advisory Council of Ryerson’s School of Fashion; George Brown’s School of Fashion Studies; and Seneca College’s School of Fashion.

Kathy has a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from University of Toronto.
