Herb Willer is founder and President of Toronto-based HMW Capital Inc. His company focuses on emerging entrepreneurial businesses and helps them raise capital, conduct strategic planning, recruit and develop the management team, and execute operations. Industry interests include technology, social media, health care, and consumer products.
Herb was previously a global partner with Arthur Andersen, in charge of the Entrepreneurial practice in Ontario. In 2002, he commenced private equity investing, including at Kingsdale Capital Markets Inc ( an IDA member and full brokerage firm), where he also was in charge of the corporate finance group. Herb is experienced across a broad range of industries in the areas of investment banking and strategy consulting. He has had extensive involvement with the process of taking companies public, including the CPC program, and is a member of the local advisory committee for the TSX-V and a member of the national advisory committee for the TSX-V.
In 2003, Herb was part of the founder group of Mill St. Brewery and became Chairman. He was instrumental in all areas of the business growth, including hiring the management team, branding, raising capital, and the building of the new production plant.
Herb is Chairman of Satin Finish Hardwood Flooring (manufacturer of engineered and solid hardwood flooring and distributor of various laminate flooring products); HealthCare 365 Inc. (primary health care management services on a virtual basis); PitchPoint Solutions (SaaS based compliance and validation services for credit reporting agencies in the U.S. mortgage market); Intertainment Media Inc. (portfolio management company with focus on internet based social media products and services with global reach); and Mill Street Brewery (micro-brewery). He also sits on the Board of Yappn Corp (an early stage online multilingual social community).
Herb is on the investment committee for the University Health Network and has had various teaching and speaking experiences.
Herb received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of Toronto and is a Chartered Accountant.
